Fourteen employees returned to work in Toronto on Nov. 6
Members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) Local 1922 who workers at the Canadian Office and Professional Employees Union (COPE) in Toronto voted almost 80 per cent in favour of the employer’s offer on Nov. 5.
The 14 employees had been on strike since Sept. 19 and returned to work on Nov. 6.
“At the end of the day, when members vote, members win. The vote was loud and clear, and our members are eager to return to work,” says Jim Snider, IAM district 78 business representative.
Labour relations specialists and administrative staff from COPE joined the IAM in October 2018.
The IAM has become the home for several groups of business representatives from other unions across Canada recently.
